GROW IN THE LIGHT

Confessions of Faith

Your confession will bring you to a place of possession. If you’re a believer, you should be a possessor. A general definition of the word ‘confess’ means to speak or say something. The Bible references the following three types of confession:

The Great Confession

The greatest confession you will ever make in life is your confession of Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Romans 10:8-10 says, “But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Confession of Sin

When we as believers miss the mark or standard of what God’s Word says in an area of our life, we should come before the Lord to confess where we have missed it and seek wisdom from His Word to take steps to walk in the light of His Word in that particular area.

Confession of Your Faith in God’s Word

Proverbs 18:20-21 says, “A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” You are either speaking death or life each day. The great thing about it is that you get to choose. Speaking life is speaking God’s Word. Speaking death is speaking words of doubt, fear, worry and unbelief that are contrary to the Word of God.

As a Christian you should take time each day to confess or say who you are in Christ, what belongs to you in Him and what you can do through Him. Biblically, confession means to say the same thing as another or agree with. This means we should be saying what God has already promised and said about us in His Word. Remember that faith is, “...the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].” Speak the Word and you’ll see the Word become a reality in your life.
